Piano and organ
In the Department of Classical Piano and Organ, students can pursue training to become a pianist or organist. Students are prepared to continue studies at a higher music school and work as a soloist, piano accompanist, teacher or in other related fields.
In addition to speciality subjects, ensemble playing is practised in different chamber ensembles and a piano ensemble. In concertmaster classes, students learn about the collaboration between pianists and singers. This curriculum provides students with the basic knowledge of the methodology and practice of teaching and introduces the primary level study repertoire. Piano students can learn to play the organ or harpsichord as an additional instrument. Performances play an important role in gaining stage experience.
Studies conclude with a chamber ensemble, accompaniment and piano examination. The final examinations in harmony and solfeggio serve as entrance examinations for the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Graduates receive the fourth qualification level instrumentalist profession.
Graduates can continue their studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre or other higher music schools worldwide.
Students of the piano or organ speciality must complete the instrumentalist curriculum.
